Behaviour is Communication

How would you visualise your coaching conversations?

When we find behaviour confusing, it is often because we have not yet seen the systems in play or understood the loyalties and hierarchies that are invisibly guiding the behaviour of ourselves or others.

In these instances it is tempting to feel judgemental whether this is towards the controlling new boss, the disruptive direct report, the awkward stakeholder, or the part of ourselves that we find confusing.

However, we could also consider this confusing behaviour an invitation to look more deeply and to listen to the messages behind the symptoms, messages that might start in other countries, or previous generations, and which still have valuable information for us.

Coaching conversations add meaning on many levels and often open doors that we weren’t aware of.

Coaches help us to see, noticing systemic patterns that might have been hidden in plain sight, enabling us to make better decisions. This is different to helping us, and is a powerful way to unleash our inherent passion, capability and performance leaving the agency, ownership and growth with us as clients.
